When we look at a tree we see it as a whole. We don’t see it as thousands and thousands of individual leaves. I wanted to see each singular leaf in an effort to quantify what it means to look at a tree.

From May 2017 to December 2017 I scanned in every leaf of a very small poplar tree.

There were 11,396 leaves.
